[FEATURE] Roadster Bros; A Pair of Japan Inspired NDs

Before I get to the central thesis of this post, I’d like to say something kind of unrelated first…

So, after some convincing from friends and witnessing the overall saturation of content on social media (albeit mostly crap), coupled with the demise of Speedhunters and other online publications in recent years, I figured this is the perfect time to go back to my roots. I remember starting this site back in 2010 where I would just repost car shit that I liked, kinda like Tumblr but on an actual website. This was a time when all the “stance” sites started popping up as well and most of the online publications (i.e. Speedhunters) were still in their infancy. Looking back, I remember spending an unhealthy amount of time reading online articles and looking through photo galleries of JDM/time attack cars for that constant inspiration. I miss that. Nowadays, everything is basically on social media and everyone wants to be the next content creator… Don’t get me wrong, I love social media and all the positives it brings with the way it connects people and as a strong marketing tool but there’s also a shit ton of negatives that comes along with it. Unfortunately, I feel like it’s trending towards the negative side as of late, with algorithms prioritizing what’s viral, and as we all know, viral content often times is shitty/stupid content (especially in the automotive space). Couple that with most of the reputable automotive journalists/photographers/writers switching their focus heavily towards YouTube since it pays well and gets you noticed, I can’t think of a more perfect time to get back to writing long form content like this~

So, that kind of sums up some of my thoughts as of late and why I’m posting here again. I feel like I have much more to say but then it’ll just turn into a long rant…

Anyways, lets get back to why we’re here!

So, I’ve been a part the Miata community for quite some time now and have met quite a few friends through our common interest. Mathew is one of those people that I’ve met through the Miata community and his car happens to be one of my favorite.

I can’t speak for all generations of Miatas but most NDs that I usually see are either stock or very mildly modded with the usual array of parts offered on sites like Flyin Miata, Goodwin, even eBay, etc. I guess it has to do with the demographics that typically owns these cars… I’ll let you figure out what demographic I’m talking about, but it was such a breath of fresh air to see another ND with a strong emphasis on using quality Japanese products. I’m not saying the sites I mentioned above sells bad quality products, well maybe eBay, but their offerings are actually very limited if you compare the options available in Japan.

Wheels and tire specs seems to be the most asked question for any build, so here they are; WedsSport TC105x in 15×8 +35 wrapped with 205/50/15… Although, I believe Mathew upgraded tire sizing to 225/50/15 since this shoot for a more meaty fitment.

I love the color scheme he did on the Greddy front lip with the top half body color and bottom half gloss black, and let me just emphasize how great Soul Red looks… best color for the ND in my opinion, even though I have a Ceramic Metallic…

R Magic high mount wing with paint matched end plates takes center stage out back. The high mount option is required on the RF for clearance issues.

Single Bride A.i.R bucket seats because race car. I’ve actually heard they’re pretty comfortable so there’s that.

And a couple more shots together to finish off this post. I didn’t get into details about my car here since I’ve already done that on previous posts, and I mainly just wanted to focus on Mathew’s RF here. With that said, I hope you guys enjoyed this write up and the gallery and I’ll see you guys here again soon! ~
